When you name Shasta Land Trust in your will or trust, you are making a permanent gift to the people of this region.
Participate in the Planned Giving Program at Shasta Land Trust and make the preservation of far northern California’s land a vital part of your own legacy. Your gift will be used to purchase local open space and to preserve the beauty, character and diversity of our local landscape.
Making a planned gift is also an important way for you to maximize the financial rewards of your philanthropy. These gifts are structured to help you realize the full range of the tax and income incentives the federal law provides to encourage your generous support of Shasta Land Trust.
When your attorney draws up your will or living trust, Shasta Land Trust should be designated as: Shasta Land Trust, a California non-profit public benefit corporation, with Business Address of P.O. Box 992026, Redding, CA 96099-2026.
Shasta Land Trust's taxpayer identification number is: 68-0441184.
We suggest that you specify that your bequest be: "used in such a manner as the Board of Directors of Shasta Land Trust shall, in its discretion, determine." However, should you wish to restrict your bequest to a particular program or programs, we would be pleased to work with you to ensure that your wishes will be met.
We appreciate your considering a bequest to Shasta Land Trust. Your bequest to SLT could be a particular dollar amount, a percentage of your estate, or even a particular asset or group of assets. Bequests will be distributed after all debts, taxes and expenses of your estate have been paid.
Should you decide to make Shasta Land Trust a beneficiary of your will or living trust, it would be helpful for us to know of your intentions. If you would like, you could provide SLT a copy of the relevant portion of your will or living trust so that we could ensure that your wishes are carried out at the appropriate time. This information will, of course, be kept strictly confidential.
We would be pleased to provide further information on naming Shasta Land Trust as a beneficiary of your will. We also would be happy to discus other options, such as real estate gifts or charitable remainder trusts. Please contact Kathleen Gilman, Executive Director, at (530) 241-7886.
