Shasta Land Trust Receives Accreditation
In February 2011, Shasta Land Trust was awarded accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission.  This prestigious achievement recognizes the high standards at which Shasta Land Trust works, and will serve as a mark of distinction for SLT.

The Land Trust Accreditation Commission is an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance.   To learn more about Accreditation or the Commission, please click here .

The process of applying for accreditation has been long but very beneficial for Shasta Land Trust.  SLT adopted the Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices in March of 2000, and registered in 2009 to submit our application for Accreditation in the second session of 2010.

Receiving Accreditation is a testament to important contributions from many volunteers and staff over the years.  The volunteer committees that make so much of SLT's work possible, have been reviewing and writing policies for years which were used in the accreditation application.  In addition, the Board of Directors of SLT displayed great leadership in guiding SLT to make our application so early in the exciting story of land trust accreditation.

Shasta Land Trust will remain an accredited land trust for five years, at which time an application for renewal will be submitted.  During these next five years, we will proudly display the Accreditation seal to signify our high standards.

We're very proud of this accomplishment, and our members and supporters should be too!  We would never be where we are without the great support that we receive from the public and our community.  Thank you for making this possible.

It's particularly gratifying to receive this prestigious honor right after SLT passed the significant milestone of 20,000 acres permanently protected.  Receiving accreditation means that we've reached that milestone by doing things the right way, and we're committed to standing behind these protections so that these properties remain intact for the benefit of future generations.

Thank you for your support of Shasta Land Trust which has allowed us to receive accreditation!
