Volunteer Spotlight on...

Terri and Jay Thesken

Terri and Jay Thesken have been members of Shasta Land Trust since 2002, and volunteers for nearly as long.  Their interests and backgrounds in land use, conservation, and natural resources led them to SLT, and their dedication and generous donation of their time has been invaluable.

Those who have attended a Wildways party hosted by Terri and Jay know that they are Shasta Land Trust’s resident native plant gurus.  They have been leading wildflower walks for Shasta Land Trust since before Wildways began, and have hosted a Wildways event nearly every year in various locations including Hathaway Ranch, Table Mountain, the Yana Trail, and Bear Valley.  They can be counted on to help at many other events throughout the year as well, and are always seen with smiles on their faces!

As a former city planner and a former Department of Agriculture inspector and commissioner (respectively), Terri and Jay have a great deal of experience with and appreciation of land use issues.  As members of the California Native Plant Society, they also have a great knowledge of the fragile habitats of Shasta County and the North State that need protection.  Combined with their love of outdoor activities and the beauty of the North State, Shasta Land Trust was an obvious fit for their interests and talents, and we are lucky to have them as part of the Shasta Land Trust community.

Thank you, Terri and Jay, for all of the time and expertise you have given to SLT!  Volunteers like you make a huge contribution to the success of Shasta Land Trust as an organization!
