The Clear Creek Restoration Program has brought a number of conservation successes to our region, including improved stream flows, large scale habitat resoration, and removal of fish barriers. Fish species have responded already, with a four-fold increase in fall Chinook salmon. Learn about this successful restoration effort and the many collaborators and projects that have helped to re-establish threatened species in our own backyard. We will take you on a tour of a habitat and stream restoration on Clear Creek with Western Shasta RCD and US Fish and Wildlife Service staff who will describe the goals and outcomes of the project and answer your questions. You will visit the salmon viewing area at Seltzer Gorge and enjoy a lunch along the river.
Event Details: Meet us at the Whiskeytown Lake Visitors Center, at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 21 for an initial overview of the restoration effort. From there, we will take a quick drive to hike the trails of the Clear Creek Greenway and view the restoration success up close and personal. We will end our event at the Clear Creek Gorge Overlook to view spawning salmon and enjoy a picnic lunch provided by the event sponsors.
