Whispering Oaks

Shasta Land Trust completed the conservation easement for the 24-acre Whispering Oaks property in late 2013, which is our third conservation easement within the Fall River Valley. Whispering Oaks contains approximately ¼ mile of frontage on the beautiful Fall River, a river renowned for its rainbow trout and world-class fly fishing. The property also boasts over 20 acres of open space, including riparian forests, oak woodlands, and grasslands.

The open space of Whispering Oaks allows for the migration and foraging of wildlife and bird species that make their home in the Fall River Valley.  The Fall River Valley is especially important to birds, including numerous raptors, as it provides important habitat within the Pacific Flyway.

The Shasta Land Trust is deeply grateful to Steven McCanne for his generous donation of a conservation easement and for preserving this important frontage along the Fall River.
