Part-Time Development COordinator

Position: Development Coordinator
Supervisor: Executive Director                                 
Classification: Part-Time, exempt, approximately 24 hours per week

Summary of Position:

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Development Coordinator is responsible for leading the membership program and fundraising strategies, including maintenance of the donor database and implementation of the annual fundraising plan. The Development Coordinator manages major donor cultivation and recruitment, corporate giving and foundation research, planned giving, and assists with Wildways events. The Development Coordinator works closely with the Executive Director, staff, Board of Directors, and Committees and is expected to attend Board and Committee meetings.

Responsibilities:

Membership & Fundraising

1.      Maintenance of donor database, including transition to new database
2.      Lead the membership program, including annual renewals and efforts to increase giving levels, special campaigns, and tracking and reporting of gifts and pledges
3.      Coordinate the annual fundraising plan
4.      Research and identify corporate giving and foundation prospects
5.      Coordinate the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of major donors, including working with the Executive Director to plan special fundraising and cultivation events
6.      Assist with research preparation and administration of grants
7.      Assist in the development of a planned giving program
8.      Assist in the planning of Wildways and other events

General

1.      Follow priorities set by Executive Director and Board of Directors
2.      Attend Board meetings and Committee meetings, as assigned
3.      Compile reports and regularly update Executive Director and Committees on progress
4.      Attend conferences, training sessions, meetings and seminars; report on major issues and actions
5.      Maintain confidentiality
6.      Perform additional duties as assigned, consistent with qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

1.      Experience with fundraising programs, database management, and working with volunteers
2.      Non-profit experience
3.      Excellent oral and written communication skills
4.      Ability to work under pressure, communicate, and present information, identify problems, and recommend solutions
5.      Ability to organize and integrate priorities and deadlines
6.      Ability to handle varied responsibilities, take initiative, be enthusiastic, and maintain quality
7.      Patience, self-direction, and ability to work well with people are a must
8.      Operation and use of Windows-based computer applications including Word and Excel
9.      Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation
10.    Must be able to lift 20 pounds and walk, taking donors on tours
11.    Valid California Driver’s License
12.    College degree preferred
